VASS hosts a reception for all attendees of the Spring Conference each year. The event size is up to 180 people, depending on the capacity of the venue VASS reserves. This event is open to all conference attendees.

VASS supports the Aspiring Superintendents Program run by Virginia Tech, which serves approximately 25 aspiring superintendents. A special luncheon is arranged for this group is arranged on Monday of the Spring Conference.

Event description: VASS offers executive coaching services for first- and second-year superintendents. There are 42 VASS Executive Coaches, sitting or former Superintendents, who partner with a new Superintendent to enhance their performance, leadership skills, and personal development. They provide a confidential and supportive space for the new Superintendent to explore their challenges, goals, and aspirations. VASS Executive Coaches receive a hybrid of three training sessions throughout the year and attend a portion of VTLA sessions with the first- and second-year superintendents. Sponsorship benefits: Sponsor can attend all Executive Coaching training (1 in person and 2 virtual) Sponsors can address the Executive Coaches with 2-minute remarks at each in person meeting. Event description: As a VASS service, first- and second-year superintendents participate in the Virginia Transformational Leadership Academy (VTLA). This exemplary continuous professional learning opportunity provides timely information and support throughout the first two years of the superintendency. Members receive executive coaching from experienced current or retired superintendents; have access to real-time networks for problem solving and ideation; and focus on the following topics during a hybrid of three in-person and at least four virtual sessions: Sponsorship benefits: Sponsor can attend all VTLA meetings (3 in person and 4 virtual) Sponsors can address the VTLA members with 2-minute remarks at each in person meeting.
