As a VASS service, first- and second-year superintendents participate in the Virginia Transformational Leadership Academy (VTLA). This exemplary continuous professional learning opportunity provides timely information and support throughout the first two years of the superintendency. Participants identify priority challenges and have access to colleagues and experts to assist and support planning, implementing, and monitoring short- and long-term goals. Participants are provided executive coaching from experienced current or retired superintendents; have access to real-time networks for problem solving and ideation; and focus on the following topics during a hybrid of three in-person and at least four virtual sessions:
